NEIBORHOOD DEFINITION

In addition to Gramercy Park, a large part of Gramercy is bordered by 14th Street, First Avenue, 23rd Street, and Park Avenue South,

 

ARCHITECTURAL STYLE

There are many renovated townhouses – also called mansions – sit along Gramercy Park. They have detailed mahogany and marble deco and beautiful gardens. Other row-house buildings are mixed with some apartments with modern conveniences.

 

LANMARK

Stuyvesant Square occupies the blocks from 15th to 17th Streets and Rutherford to Nathan D. Perlman Place. There are some mid-19th Century architectures in Gramercy are important: St. George’s Church and the highly-decorated townhouses that is called “block beautiful” at East 19th Street between 3rd Avenue and Irving Place. Pete’s Tavern – the oldest bar in the city – is also a popular spot in this neighborhood.

 

NEIGHBORHOOD

As the center of Gramercy, Gramercy Park provides the residents a private backyard and exclusive joy though the park only open to the public on Christmas Eve. There are trees alongside the streets. It is also a fashionable area with restaurants, nightclubs, and music venues.
